GETTING STARTED
Start with a read-only task, understand each permission, and inspect the result before moving to work that can change files.
Six visible steps
Nothing in this guide asks you to delete, overwrite or publish anything. Complete the read-only task first, then decide whether a wider task is appropriate.
Open the DMG, drag the app to Applications, eject it, then launch Voice Router Pet from Applications.
Open Pip, choose text or deliberately start recording, and use the task timeline to see the current state.
Begin with Read only. Ask before act adds a plan-and-approval step before a bounded project write turn.
macOS prompts appear only when a feature or task actually needs that permission.
Use the read-only prompt below and verify that no move, rename, overwrite or delete is proposed.
Review the plan, timeline, final response and any changed-file review before accepting further work.
These are separate macOS permissions. A feature being available does not mean every permission is required.
| Permission | Purpose | Required? | When requested | How to turn it off |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Microphone | Local speech capture and transcription | Optional | Only after Start recording | System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone |
| Files and folders | Read the folder or items you explicitly choose | Task-dependent | After selection or an Allow once card | Remove the attachment, decline the card, or revoke Files and Folders access |
| Automation | Control another app for an approved task | Task-dependent | Only when the task reaches that app | System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation |
| Accessibility | Not required for ordinary recording, text input or the global shortcut | Normally not required | Only if a separate execution tool genuinely requests it | System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility |
| Screen Recording | Not required by Pip's ordinary task panel | Normally not required | Only if a selected external tool needs visual access | System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording |
Choose from what the public build supports today, not a future integration roadmap.
Full fixed-project and computer task execution through the signed-in Codex App Server.
Local speech transcription, pet runtime and bounded app-owned preparation; not a general autonomous computer agent.
Separately configured, origin-validated providers handle narrower text tasks with the user's own credentials.
No blanket claim; only integrations verified in the current build appear here.
Attach the exact folder and choose Read only first. Then copy the prompt into Pip and check that the scope and plan contain no write operation.
Please only read the Downloads folder, list the 10 most recent files, and suggest project-based categories. Do not move, rename, overwrite or delete any file.
Open only the item that matches what you see. The controls below use the names shown by the current Mac build.
Confirm macOS 14+, Apple silicon and that the app was moved to Applications. Keep Gatekeeper enabled.
Open Privacy & Security, review the exact permission, and enable it only if the task needs it.
Check Microphone permission and input level, or use text input instead.
Open Settings and refresh the Codex sign-in or verify the selected provider configuration.
Read the exact scope. Choose Allow once only if it matches your task, or decline it.
Use Abort for the active task. Stop recording only ends microphone capture.
Quit the app, remove Voice Router Pet from Applications, and remove its local app data only if you no longer need settings or local packages.
